The sins of the father

I am not suggesting that there is a "bent" gene and I would like to make it quite clear that Jack Cunningham vigorously denies any wrongdoing.

But you can't blame the Labour Party for suspending him, following today's Sunday Times report of how he sought £12,000 a month to promote solar energy. ("I think we could do a deal on that" - priceless)

Baron Cunningham of Felling, who was once known not-very-affectionately as "nuclear Jack" because of his attachment to the nuclear power industry, was one of the most Right-wing Labour politicians of the late 20th century  He stood down from Parliament in 2005.

Jack Cunningham's father, of course, was also a Right-wing Labour politician.  Andrew Cunningham was jailed for corruption for his part in the 1974 Poulson scandal.
